To be honest, I never understood the whole clown thing.
Creepy? Sure. Terror-inducing? Hardly. Just really annoying.
I seem to be in the minority, as the creepy clown doesn’t appear to be going away anytime soon.
Enter Pennywise, the monster clown from Stephen King’s It. Last week, Warner Bros. released the trailer for the It reboot, giving us a chance to compare a new interpretation on an iconic character. The trailer doesn’t give us too much to go on—we get just one single frame of Pennywise’s full face. But even from that quick glance, you can make an assumption about the kind of story the director wants to tell.
But it begs the question: which is scarier? The newest Pennywise looks more grotesque and monster-like, but there’s something to be said about the totally-normal-looking-clown look of Tim Curry’s Pennywise. Is the obvious monster scarier, or the one that looks playful before showing you his sharp teeth?
Let’s size-up the competitors, then tell us your thoughts.
Which "IT" clown is scarier: Tim Curry's Pennywise from 1990 or Bill Skarsgård's latest interpretation? https://t.co/gg9fIHcAw4
