Designing for Accessibility: Color and Contrast

When designing for Accessibility, it’s critical to ensure that you have enough contrast between your text and the background color of your experience. For example, light colored text, like yellow, on a light colored background, like white, would be very difficult to read. Or imagine trying to read navy text on a dark green background like the screenshot below, it would be almost impossible!

You can use a helpful color contrast validator tool, like this one, to make sure that your text and background color have enough contrast between them. We recommend you select your colors and make sure they contrast before you start your experience.

This is a necessary step when creating accessible content, but also an important consideration when designing any visual content- accessible or not.
