"..the UK’s e-zine industry is growing, according to Dominic Duffy, co-founder and MD of Ceros, whose digital publishing platform is used by more than 750 magazines. In the first quarter of this year it launched 20 online-only titles. “In the current publishing climate, this is truly amazing,” he says. Return on investment from digital magazines is impressive, with click-through rates of 25-30% not unusual, compared with the typical rate of 1% or less for web banners and skyscrapers ads, Duffy adds. E-zine ads can also be innovative, he explains, citing Sony’s picture-frame ad in Virgin Media’s Electric! Magazine. In issue one the ad encouraged readers to upload their own pictures for the chance to win a competition in issue two. In the third issue, a slideshow of the Sony picture frame displayed the readers’ pictures. Individuals had the option to freeze the show, if their picture was displayed, and email the link to friends..."
